Windows and doors are much more than functional elements in a home, they define how light enters our living spaces, how warmth is retained, and how character is expressed through architectural design. At CJ Carpentry & Joinery, we understand that choosing the right windows and doors can transform a property. That’s why we are proud to offer VELFAC windows and doors, a premium solution that embodies quality, craftsmanship, durability, and contemporary Scandinavian design.
In this blog, we’ll explore why VELFAC products are rapidly becoming the go-to choice for discerning homeowners and builders alike, and how CJ Carpentry & Joinery brings them to life across Cornwall and the South West.
Who Are VELFAC?
VELFAC is a Danish manufacturer with a distinguished heritage in the fenestration industry. Part of VKR Holding, which also includes the globally recognised VELUX brand, VELFAC has been designing and producing windows and doors that stand the test of time.
Their approach blends timeless Scandinavian design principles, simplicity, functionality, and quality, with cutting-edge engineering to create solutions that elevate modern homes and renovations.
The VELFAC Difference: What Sets Their Windows & Doors Apart
1. Composite Construction: Best of Both Worlds
Unlike traditional single-material windows, VELFAC windows and doors are built with composite construction, combining natural timber on the inside with durable aluminium on the outside. This design delivers:
- Warmth and aesthetic appeal of timber internally
- High durability and low maintenance of aluminium externally
- Outstanding thermal performance
- Minimal upkeep with maximum longevity
- Resistance to harsh UK weather
This composite structure not only gives your home visual warmth and elegance inside, but also protects and enhances performance externally, a balance that is hard to beat.
2. Slim Frames & Daylight Optimisation
VELFAC’s signature design feature is its slim frame profile — giving significantly more glass area than traditional systems. More glass means:
- More natural daylight flooding your space
- A heightened sense of openness and connection to the outdoors
- Improved views and architectural cohesion
- Reduced reliance on artificial lighting during the day
This slimline aesthetic also contributes to a sleek, contemporary look that works beautifully in both modern and heritage architectural styles.
3. Bespoke Tailored Windows & Doors
Every VELFAC window and door is made to measure — meaning you get a perfect fit and a custom specification that suits your home perfectly. You can choose:
- Frame colours inside and out
- Shape and size variations (including bespoke shapes)
- Opening functions, glass options, and hardware accessories
- Unique design features tailored to your property’s character
This bespoke manufacturing process ensures architectural harmony and design integrity across your project, no matter how complex or unique it is.
Performance You Can Feel: Energy Efficiency & Comfort
Thermal Performance & Energy Savings
VELFAC systems are engineered to not only meet but often exceed UK building regulations for energy performance. Their triple-glazed units can achieve exceptionally low U-values (as low as 0.8 W/m²K), which means:
- Less heat escapes during winter
- Less cold enters during summer
- Incredible comfort throughout the year
- Lower energy and heating bills
- Better indoor climate control
Because windows and doors play a major role in a building’s energy performance, making the right choice can significantly reduce your home’s overall energy consumption.
Acoustic Comfort
Alongside thermal performance, VELFAC windows are designed to reduce noise transmission — a valuable feature for homes in busy or exposed locations. The composite frame combined with high-performance glazing significantly diminishes unwanted external noise, helping to create a peaceful interior environment.
Security You Can Trust
Security is a priority for every homeowner. VELFAC windows and doors are engineered to resist common tools used in break-in attempts and many come with multi-point lock systems, internal glazing beads, and Secured by Design accreditation — a nationally recognised housing security standard in the UK.
This gives you peace of mind that your investment not only looks beautiful but also safeguards your home and family.
